I unveil a structured philosophy for managing work in a world increasingly shaped by distributed teams, automation, and complexity. I introduce two foundational ideas—the Work Control Framework and the Work Control System—that offer both a conceptual lens and a practical path for bringing clarity, accountability, and intelligent control to modern work. By distinguishing the philosophy, the system, and its first real-world product, Kaamfu, I lay the groundwork for an open, evolving ecosystem of tools, contributors, and shared understanding centered around how work should be designed, executed, and managed in the AI era.
This site marks the official home of a new and evolving philosophy for managing work in the modern era—one that recognizes the growing need for clarity, accountability, structure, and control in an age defined by distributed teams, intelligent automation, and accelerating operational complexity.
Across the last two decades, I’ve worked with hundreds of organizations and systems, each struggling to maintain alignment, performance, and transparency amid increasingly fragmented digital environments. From those challenges emerged a unified philosophy—one that reimagines how modern work should be organized, assigned, tracked, measured, and ultimately controlled.
Today, I’m formally introducing two core concepts that give shape to this vision:
- The Work Control Framework (WCF) – The WCF is a foundational model for how modern work should be structured—from the top levels of leadership down to individual contributors. It provides a principle-driven approach to designing organizations where effort, value, and visibility are directly aligned. You can read the introductory essay here: Introducing the Work Control Framework (WCF).
- The Work Control System (WCS) – The WCS defines a new software category—much like CRM or ERP—that captures the architectural and control principles required to translate the WCF into digital form. It formalizes the key components, flows, and interactions necessary to build intelligent work systems. Read more here: Introducing the Work Control System (WCS).
Together, these concepts offer both a way of thinking and a way of building—uniting the philosophical and the practical into a cohesive structure for designing and managing modern work. While Kaamfu is the first working product to implement these ideas, the WCF and WCS are open enough to support a broader ecosystem of aligned tools, ideas, and contributors. That’s where WorkControl.org comes in.
Why WorkControl.org?
As the ideas behind the WCF spread—and as more tools emerge to support its implementation—it became clear that a neutral, canonical home was needed. WorkControl.org will serve as the source of truth for:
- The original framework and its models, diagrams, and terminology
- Future versions and updates to the framework
- Guidelines on how to implement or refer to the WCF and WCS
- Clarity around authorship, IP use, and attribution expectations
- The evolving ecosystem of Work Control-compliant tools and implementations
This site is not a product site. It’s a foundational reference point—a shared resource for anyone who wants to understand, apply, or contribute to the emerging field of structured, AI-enhanced work management.
Distinguishing the Layers
To truly understand the Work Control movement, it’s essential to separate the ideas that guide it from the systems that implement it. What I’ve built is not just a product or a methodology—it’s an integrated structure that spans from philosophy to execution. At the heart of this structure are three interconnected layers that work together to define how modern work should be conceived, codified, and brought to life through software.
- The Philosophy: Work Control Framework (WCF) – The WCF is the foundational philosophy—a comprehensive, principle-driven view of how work should be structured in the 21st century. It is centered on hierarchy, visibility, accountability, and AI-enhanced control. This body of thinking was developed in response to the fragmented and inefficient nature of today’s work tools and organizational systems. The WCF is authored and maintained by me, and is made openly available for reference, discussion, and responsible implementation—with appropriate attribution.
- The Framework: Work Control System (WCS) – The WCS is the structured software expression of the WCF philosophy. It defines the essential components, system architecture, user controls, and guiding models required to build software that aligns with the WCF. This includes things like the Position Model, Goals Model, Signal Flow, and Control Logic that allow work to be intelligently distributed, measured, and refined. The WCS is a defined software category—like CRM or ERP—built from the WCF.
- The Product: Kaamfu – Kaamfu is the first and most advanced implementation of the WCS. It brings the framework and system to life through a real, working product. Kaamfu integrates communication, task management, hierarchy, feedback, analytics, and AI assistants into a seamless digital environment that embodies the full Work Control vision. While Kaamfu leads this category today, the WCS is open enough to support other implementations in the future.
This layered model ensures clarity of intent, flexibility of implementation, and room for innovation. The Work Control Framework defines the principles. The Work Control System provides the architecture. And Kaamfu proves what’s possible. By distinguishing these layers, we open the door for a broader ecosystem—one where new tools, platforms, and contributors can align around a shared philosophy while bringing their own creativity and solutions to the table.
What’s Next
This site is just the beginning. As the Work Control philosophy continues to take root, WorkControl.org will evolve into a living resource—a hub for thought leadership, practical guidance, and community collaboration. Whether you’re building software, leading teams, designing systems, or simply rethinking how work should work, this platform will provide the tools and models needed to engage with the Work Control vision at every level.

The systems we use to manage work shape the outcomes we produce—and the people we become. As complexity increases and AI becomes more deeply embedded in our daily operations, the need for intentional, structured, and human-centered control has never been greater. Thank you for being here at the start of something important. The future of work demands a framework. This is where it begins.
